The Level 1 Award in British Sign Language (RQF) – Official Exam Included Lead Academy offers a comprehensive introduction to British Sign Language (BSL). It is designed for a range of potential learners, including those who wish to gain a basic understanding of communication daily, those studying at VI Form or equivalent, and those preparing to progress onto Level 2 or 3 studies. The award syllabus consists of interactive teaching covering communication in BSL, receptive skills and an introduction to language structure. It also includes aspects of Deaf culture and social etiquette to ensure that learners understand the importance of conscious body language to achieve communication with confidence. The Level 1 Award also includes a formal examination recognised by industry standards and demonstrates legal recognition of attained skills. Upon completion, candidates receive a Level 1 Certificate in British Sign Language accredited by National Open College Network (NOCN).
