Currently, the use of protein-rich substances in formulations is believed to have beneficial effects. Proteins are useful ingredients that can create a suitable environment for healthy skin and hair because of their ability to bind water with the horny layer of skin and its annexes. It cannot be ignored that these proteins in action may be a source of type I allergen (especially wheat protein). They are classified as "new allergens" due to possible adverse reactions (asthma, itching or anaphylactic shock) from exposure to them.
