The palace on the wheel is the fourth luxury train in the world. This is a joint agreement between the Indian Railways and the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. The wheel palace was inspired by the royal coach of the Indian king and ruler and became the first royal luxury train in India.

The train has 14 comfortable cars, each named after the Royal Palace of Rajasthan and the corresponding interior space. There are two types of rooms on the train - Deluxe and Super Deluxe and two restaurants - Maharaja and Maharani restaurants serve traditional European, Chinese and Indian cuisine.
