There are no water rates; there are no other housing costs except 44 Euros a year in land tax. Electricity and heating are what you use. Firewood logs from the local forests are cheap to buy.

The property lies just over the Slovene border with Austria. It is situated in a lovely quiet valley in a National Park and surrounded by wild flower meadows, woodland and wild life. Ten minutes away is a bustling market town offering all your daily needs - and more. Supermarkets, DIY stores, C & A and all that stuff. The health service here is excellent too. No waiting - you can see your doctor the same day without an appointment.
The cost of daily living is also very low. There is a wide choice of good, drinkable wine for between £1 and £2 a bottle and a good cup of coffee anywhere costs only about 80p. Eating out is cheap too.
The house was bought and restored by a UK couple about 15 years ago. It is in super order. All the exposed beams and traditional features were preserved and it is now a lovely home in a totally private location. There are a few friendly Brits in the area so you won't be alone but you are not swamped with them like you are in Spain.
