Whether you're a seasoned boater or new to canal boat holidays, JONES FAMILY CRUISING would like to offer you the opportunity to get afloat on a fantastic boat at an affordable price and experience the joys of the UK Canal Network on our privately owned canal boat, Maddison.

We provide all your freshly laundered bedding, towels and tea towels. All the fuel you need for at least two weeks cruising. Also, 2 x gas bottles for cooking and heating, plus stacks of toilet rolls and domestic cleaning products. Just pack your bags, load up with food, drink and favourite snacks and off you go. No need to try and cram sleeping bags, towels and sundries into your car. Plus, you have free gated parking for two cars at the marina.

ABOUT "MADDISON" THE BOAT

Maddison is an 8 berth 62ft cruiser stern narrowboat based in the market town of Penkridge, Staffordshire. She has a light and airy feel with two single beds at the rear with a private toilet compartment. Going forward there's a fixed double bed with pull out "jumbo" storage drawers beneath. Beyond this is the bathroom with a second toilet, full size thermostatically controlled shower, plus a vanity unit with giant mirror and plenty of storage areas for towels and your personal items.

Then you have a dinette that converts into a double bed, again with plenty of under seat storage. After this is the galley (kitchen) with a full size cooker, ample surface area and under counter domestic fridge / freezer. The seating in the lounge area converts to two single beds.

You have two TV's on board. One located in the front lounge area and another at the rear of the boat where the two single beds are. So there's no issue with conflicting TV viewing preferences.

3 Nights = £635. 4 Nights = £825. 5 Nights = £1015. 6 Nights = £1205. 7 Nights = £1395. 14 Nights = £2725.

YOUR PETS

We know that canal holidays are ideal for your pet dog. So we welcome one medium or two small breed, well-behaved dogs aboard our boat. There is a £45.00 fee per dog per week / part week.

OUR LOCATION

Our home mooring is located on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal, in the market town of Penkridge, Staffordshire. Being central to the main canal network, you have access to some wonderful canal holiday routes. From tranquil countryside to our industrial heritage. The choice is yours. MINIMUM HIRE PERIODS

April, May, June, September & October. We have 3 nights minimum booking - Start & End on any day of the week.

July & August. We have7 nights minimum booking (and multiples of 7) - Start & End on Saturdays.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Meet & Greet - On the day of your departure, we'll meet you at our marina base and give you a walk-through of the boat, its equipment and facilities on board. We'll explain how everything on the boat works so you have a full understanding of operating the equipment on board.

Safety Briefing - We will discuss pre cruise checks, emergency equipment and procedures so you know what to do in the event of an incident.

Hands on Practice - Dependent on your experience, we'll accompany you at the start of your cruise, making sure you are comfortable in controlling the boat and giving you the opportunity to practice and operate it safely under our guidance. We'll demonstrate how to navigate the canal, mooring up, setting off, using the locks and the general "rules of the road" as well as canal etiquette.

When everyone is happy in handling the boat, we'll leave you to enjoy the rest of your holiday aboard Narrowboat Maddison. And remember. We are only a phone call away should you need anything.

PEACE OF MIND

Maddison holds a Commercial Boat Licence issued by Canal River Trust, which means we comply with their required standards.

She has Commercial Hire Insurance, which is required for non-private boats that are hired by holidaymakers.

Maddison also has a Commercial Boat Safety Certificate which requires higher standards of safety than normal Private Boat Safety Certificates.

Maddison is also covered by membership of River Canal Rescue which is basically the RAC of the inland waterways.
