These parrots are fairly hard to come by and it's easy to see why when you know a little about their characters..and on top of that they are hard to breed! They are definitely our favourite parrots and the same can be said for other multiple species breeders. Yellow Thighed Caiques really are a unique species. I've known them to roll around and lay on the floor, sleeping with their feet in the air and holding hands/ claws whilst sleeping and even swinging each other around their cages like trapeze artists! They can talk too, but mainly they are bought for their unique characters and the entertainment the provide to their keepers. They are pretty sociable compared to other species too and they live for up to 30 years! They have all been bred by ourselves.
We train all of our parrots to step onto our hands with an "up" command which I feel can make all the difference in terms of tameness as the parrot is coming to you, instead of you chasing/ grabbing it to get them back in their cage and most of these little guys will also lay in your palm for a belly rub too, and overall they make fabulous pets. We spoon feed all of our chicks and we rear them around kids and the usual noises that go with a family household. We've bred and hand reared 100's of different parrots in the past so you can rest assured that they are being raised by experienced and concerned people.
You can reserve them with a £100 deposit (ALL payments are non-refundable in the event you later change your mind) and pay the rest either in installments at our discretion or on collection/ delivery.
We are based in Carlisle, Cumbria but we can also arrange delivery by a specialist parrot courier who will collect from us and deliver direct to you, same day and same vehicle for an additional fee of between £50-£70 to most areas of mainland UK below Glasgow/ Edinburgh. The courier is knowledgeable about birds and their welfare, and we trust them entirely.
