We have put together a comprehensive and detailed guide of what we do, but also, most importantly what to watch out for, so you can get the best our of your wooden floor without the headaches! What types of Wooden floors do we restore? We sand and restore all types of wooden floors; Floorboards, Solid Oak, Engineered Floors, Strip Flooring, Mosaic and Herringbone Parquet and all types of wood species including Pine, Oak, Teak, Maple in both residential and commercial settings. Floor Sanding Many floor sanding companies still use OLD drum sanders which cause chatter marks on floors and create a lot of dust. We use the latest machines in floor sanding technology which are DUST FREE due to the powerful suction and large dust collection bag fitted on the machine. These machines also bring the floors to a superbly smooth finish. Before sanding is carried out we inspect the floor and prepare for sanding by checking for any loose nails sticking up, making sure all boards are nailed down and replacing any boards that are damaged or that do not match, with reclaimed timber. Even floors with a black bitumen edge and floors that have been painted can be completely sanded down to the natural wood and restored to their natural look. We also very experienced at sanding steps and staircases which a lot of companies do not offer. We can also supply, fit and finish risers if necessary. Sealing - Lacquering and Oiling We offer a wide range of finishes for your floor. You can choose between Lacquer and Oil, both of which are clear. We use a range of high quality products Jenkins and Bonakemi) as these are far the best to work with. Choose a Silk Matt lacquer for a semi-shiny finish or if you fancy something more matt go for a Matt Lacquer or Oil finish. All our lacquers are offered High Traffic as standard to ensure that your floor gets maximum protection. We make sure that we add 3 coats - please check your other quotes as some companies only offer 1 or 2 which is insuffiencnt for sealing. Staining We offer a wide range of Stains from Morrells and Jenkins - leading manufactures of wood stains. Ranging from Light Oak to Dark Walnut, we have a choice for everyone. When we have finished sanding your floor if you would like a stain we do samples of your favourites onto the floor so you can choose. Once chosen we sand off samples and complete in stain of your choice. Many companies do not offer a staining service as they are not confident in how to use it! Be warned that if a floor is not sander 100% smoothly, any stain added will appear patchy. Gap Filling We offer this specialist service to reduce drafts, prevent dust and dirt falling between boards and for general aesthetic purposes. We use fine dust mixed with a resin made into a paste and spread in between the gaps of the floor boards. The quick drying filler is then sanded off before finishing the floor with Lacquer or Oil. Companies who are not specialist or experienced floor sanders will not have heard of this process and will not offer it as part of their service. Restoration Even if the floor seems to be in very poor condition we are almost always able to restore it to its former glory. As well as minor repairs, replacing damaged or unmatching boards with reclaimed boards, or replacing blocks in the case of mosaic or herringbone parquet, we carry out all types of restoration including hearth removals, where we remove the concrete block and replace with reclaimed boards. We even have products that will remove water marks and we can source almost any type or width of wooden board or parquet block to match with your existing floor. Extra Services Our Extra Services include removal of carpets and rods, removal of furniture and removal of hardboard. We regret that we do not sand and varnish banisters, skirting or doors.
