A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR BUDDING PERFORMERS
This summer, the UK’s Centre for Taiko Drumming are offering a unique opportunity to learn to play these beautiful instruments, and perform as part of their show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Many performers struggle for years before being able to perform at the fringe – here is an opportunity to perform this summer!
Through the Dojo’s teaching programme, budding performers can gain valuable performance skills with a professional company, as well as a unique experience performing at the Fringe.
After the initial 6-week course, the participants will be selected for the performance. The course is suitable for both complete beginners and experienced percussionists, who will be guided through transferring their skills to the taiko drums.
No previous drumming experience is necessary, although a good sense of rhythm helps! Taiko drumming also involves highly choreographed movement akin to martial arts, so be prepared to sweat!
