Meyers Parrot being hand reared now, although still very young.
They can learn to talk and are pretty intelligent too with a placid nature and they live for up to 50 years so you have plenty of time to train and me with them too!
They are a member of the same family as Senegals, and their green/ turquoise feathers almost go iridescent when lit by the sun but what really sets Meyers apart is the stunning electric blue on their rump (between folded wing tip on back) and they really glow and catch the eye. They are primarily green, grey and blue but also have yellow under-wings and around head other areas. They have very personable eyes and facial features like other members of that genus.
They have all been bred by ourselves and we train all of our parrots to step onto our hands with an "up" command which can make all the difference in terms of tameness; as the parrot is coming to you instead of you having to go it and chasing/ grabbing it to get them back in their cage.
Most of these little guys will also lay in your palm for a belly rub too, and overall they make fabulous pets, that are really handle-able.
We spoon feed all of our chicks as we believe that it makes them tamer and we rear them around kids and the usual noises that go with a family household. We've bred and hand reared over 100 different parrots in the last year alone you can rest assured that they are being raised by experienced and concerned people.
Underestimated as pets. We are based in Carlisle, Cumbria but we can also arrange delivery by a specialist parrot courier who will collect from us and deliver direct to you, same day and same vehicle for an additional fee of between £50-£70 to most of the mainland UK below Glasgow/ Edinburgh.
The courier is knowledgeable about birds and their welfare, and we trust him entirely.
