Sun-nobi Tanto (Huge Tanto or Short Wakizashi). Signed: "Bizen (no) kuni Osafune zai Hikari Shinjiro Saku [Made by Hikari Shinjiro at Osafune, Bizen Province]," and dated 1550. A rather unusual osoraku-zukuri blade with solid gold (18K?) habaki, in recent fine polish, in fine shirasaya. Nagasa: 12.75". Sori: 0.2". Moto-haba: 1.2". Moto-kasane: 0.2". The kissaki measures 8.25".
The reading of this mei is tentative, and I could not find any information on this smith to verify it, and therefore I cannot guarantee the authenticity of the mei.
