The role will also provide support to the maintenance and production departments with technical issues.   Preferred experience in MS Server 2003, MS Exchange 2003 and Symantec Backup Exec. This position provides an ideal opportunity for an individual to develop and enhance their current skills, through working with experienced staff. There may also be opportunity to provide support to customers. IT Systems Administrator needed to support Windows 2003 / XP environment across multiple sites supporting varied applications.   The main components of this position are: Installing and configuring computer systems attached with control room. Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks. Talking staff through a series of actions - either face-to-face or over the telephone. Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults. Finding solutions to problems, be it through creating a desktop shortcut or fixing a major fault on the system. Replacing parts as required. Providing support documentation, including procedural documentation. Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system. Running network applications to support system and users. Supporting new applications. Setting up new users. Responding within agreed time limits to calls. Woking continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate). Prioritising and managing several open cases at one time. Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with users. Testing/evaluating new technologies. Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment. Keeping abreast of the latest technologies.
