Il Poggiolo offers TWO holiday accommodations on a private villa property, managed by the resident owners (both Renaissance historians).   1) The “Casa Colonica” is an independent living space in the main villa, on two floors, sleeps 4. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and one bathroom with tub/shower. Downstairs is the kitchen, sitting room and living/dining room. Outside is a large garden area with table and chairs, as well as benches to admire the view.   2) The “Fienile” is an independent, converted barn on two floors, sleeps 6. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and one bathroom; downstairs there is a third bedroom/study and a second bathroom. The main floor also hosts the kitchen, a sitting room and a gorgeous enclosed veranda - a peaceful place to read, write, or eat ! Outside there are two garden areas with tables, benches, and chairs to admire the view.   Both units were tastefully renovated last year and carefully decorated with antiques and original art. Both have fully equipped kitchens with granite counter tops and solid wood cabinetry, microwave, electric oven, 5-range gas burner stove, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, washing machine, clothes drying rack, iron & ironing board. There is also Sat TV and DVD, Wi-Fi Internet, a recreational reading library for all ages, children’s games, and parking.   LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION: Guests appreciate the fact that Il Poggiolo is located equidistant from Florence, Siena, and Arezzo (30-45 minutes drive). While a car is necessary for your stay, Florence can be reached by train from Montevarchi in just 35 minutes. Pisa and Florence airports are 90 minutes drive. Nearby are historic sites, picturesque villages, national parks, thermal baths, and seaside beaches. Swimming nearby in local pools and fresh-water ponds (10-15 minutes drive). Excellent wine and fine restaurants in the area, as well as informal village trattorie.
