It is hard to believe that these motorhomes are not more popular in the UK, as they really are an ideal solution. You use your pick-up as your normal car, but easily and quickly convert it into a motorhome using the camper body. While you are away, you have the choice of demounting the camper and sleeping in it, thus giving you the chance to use the pick-up alone, or for shorter stays, you just leave the camper body on. They really are an excellent compromise.
I’ve just been all over France, with no problems whatsoever, and have decided to upgrade. I’ve had the vehicle since September 2006 and have camped comfortably throughout the winter months.
The Pick-Up
· 2001 Y Reg Mazda B2500 · 4 door, double cab, 5 seats · Cheap Tax (it just misses out on Gordon Brown’s new taxation price hike!) at the usual £155 per year · Full service history, just serviced recently · No evidence that it has been used for heavy work · Load liner · Plastic cover for pick-up’s rear · A really lovely, clean vehicle, you won’t find one in better condition for its age.
I may be prepared to sell the demountable separately as I’d be willing to keep pick-up for use with my new demountable.
The Camper
The camper is an Apollo and was purchased from the dealer at £5995 (see www.agm-apollo.co.uk “used sales”.) This was prior to the camper being enhanced with full air conditioning (£1500) and electronic jacks for simple and quick demounting of camper (£1300). I then had the costs associated with pairing it with a compatible pick-up and having fittings made to the truck to enable safe coupling of camper to the truck. This really is a fully rigged, ready to go unit!
With one person, mounting/demounting the camper takes about 10-15 minutes.
Features of the Camper:
I will add the following extras if I get the asking price: TV, DVD player, Freeview box, Aerial, gas fire This ad is maintained in a searchable database. To see the current ad with all of the details, please go here. |
