If it you will want Giuseppe will prepare for you excursions in the territory and visits to the agricultural company and the wineries to taste wine sagrantino In Umbria, in the province of Perugia, on the main road from Spoleto towards Todi, after 10 Km you find Castel Ritaldi, a picturesque little medieval village of about 3000 inhabitants lying on the top of the hill Scigliano, at the foot of the Monti Martani (m.304). Ancient Roman "pagus" Castel Ritaldi takes its name from the 13th century castle that was included with others in a territory called "Normandia" governed by a viscount. The current walls, which are still perfectly preserved, were reconstructed by the Cardinal Albornoz in 1360. St Nicola's Church dominates the main square of the village with its beautiful portal (1486), not far stands Santa Marina's church (14th century), where frescos by Lattanzio di Nicolò (1509) and Tiberio d'Assisi (1512) are preserved. 1 km far from Castel Ritaldi you can visit the Pieve di San Gregorio ( St.Gregory's Parish Church ) (1141) well known for its wonderful façade and a beautiful portal with a big rose window where many sacred engravings are still visible. The Fantaulli family has always been living in Castel Ritaldi for years, Giuseppe Fantaulli, his wife Antonia and their three sons Marco, Silvia and Giorgio represent the last generation. In 2000, owing to restore a 17th century house located right underneath the ancient castle, they created the B&B "Castel Ritaldi" wishing to host their guests in a warm and friendly atmosphere and offering them a close contact with Umbrian traditions. Products: B&B Castel Ritaldi offers rich typical Umbrian breakfasts, sweet or salted, based on fresh and genuine products and exclusively prepared following the traditional recipes. They include salumi (salami, sausages, prosciutto, lard), different types of omelettes depending on the season products (with artichokes, asparagus, mushrooms, herbs), homemade in oil vegetables, home-made bread, various bruschette, local pecorino cheese. Dried fruits cakes (almonds and nuts), crostate with marmalade (jam tarts) , biscuits and ciambelle (doughnuts) with must, jams, milk, coffee, the, drinks and fresh seasonal fruit. The family owns olive groves from which, through the manual picking and the traditional cold olive pressing ( to guarantee purity and low acidity) produces extra virgin olive oil (DOP). Also, they have a vineyard from which they produce the Rosso di Montefalco DOC (enriched in flavour with a percentage of Sagrantino), the Sagrantino wine (secco,dry and passito, raisin) and the local Trebbiano Spoletino (white wine) DOC. They also breed animals (chickens, rabbits, pigs ,hens). If you want to enjoy open air activities you have several options: a well equipped swimming pool, walking tours, free bikes and mountain bikes.
