The UK African pygmy hedgehog registry can now be found at
http:www.freeewebs.com/ukhedgehogs
please view the registry page for info on how to register your hedgehog/s.
I would like to also take this opportunity to offer advice to future purchasers and breeders.
1. please try and purchase a hedgehog that has been registered with the UKAPH, you can contact me before proceeding with a sale to check this information. 2. please do not buy hedgehogs under the age of 6 weeks. 3. get as much information about the hedgehog and breeder before purchasing. 4. please be aware that if you buy a hedgehog over 6 weeks old that has been housed with male hedgehogs, the hoglet you purchase is likely to be pregnant. 5. females should not be bred till they are 6 months old. 6. males and females should not be housed together, no matter what other people may tell you this is not acceptable. 7. make sure you are getting a care pack and as much info as you need, ask questions! genuine breeders will answer as many as you want to ask. 8. you should be given some of the hedgehogs regular food when you purchase. 9. ask to view the parents. 10. if the hedgehog is registered you should recieve a certificate signed by myself, if in any doubt ask the breeder for proof this is genuine. 11. some adverts will advertise as registered or come with pedigree, these are sometimes false and i suggest you get confirmation.
if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me, thats what im here for. |
